Yearling purchase Moon King (Sea The Moon) wins at Wetherby for the second time in two weeks taking the Every Race Live On Racing TC Handicap for Ralph Beckett and owners What Asham Partnership.
Having bolted up over course and distance just 8 days previously, Moon King was strongly fancied to win again here under a penalty and as such was sent off at 8/15f. The price proved reflective of his chance as he relished every yard of the 1m6f despite the race not being run to suit him with a slow pace set from the off. The tactics didn’t matter in the end with jockey Harry Bentley driving the son of the German Derby winner out to score by 2 1/4 lengths.
This progressive young stayer looks sure to step up in both trip and grade now and is one to look forward to as the season kicks in to gear.
