Bonne Vitesse (Fast Company) wins at Pontefract for Geoff & Sandra Turnbull and trainer Brian Ellison.
Breaking her maiden here on only her second outing, she was away well and pressed the favourite, Susucaru, all the way before taking it up inside the final furlong. She stayed on well to the line, scoring comfortably by a length and a half.
The £30,000 yearling purchase from last year’s Goffs UK Premier Sale finished seventh of 12 on her racecourse debut at Newcastle last week, having run green through the early stages before staying on strongly inside the final furlong . She made the experience of that run count against this field of newcomers, pinging the stalls and battling gamely with the eventual second throughout the last couple of furlongs.
After the race jockey Robinson said “She’s very straightforward at home. She’s only small but has a great attitude, her home work has been great, Brian hasn’t done a lot with her since Newcastle and that has suited her. I think she won cosy in the end, I had plenty left, she hasn’t really had much of a race there”.

Christopher Wood (Fast Company) got the double up on the day at Pontefract for trainer Paul Nicholls and owner Ms Sharon Kinsella.
With some high-class hurdles form to his name and having performed admirably in that sphere since he was purchased, it was great to see Christopher Wood score back on the flat here. He came from a fairly unpromising position 2f out to mow them all down late on under a great ride from Megan Nicholls.
This trip was the furthest he has run over on the flat but he stayed well and showed that he has plenty of scope to follow up as the season progresses.
