Maison De York (War Command) brings up another three timer on the day after the success of Raadobarg at Haydock by winning the Reg Bond ‘Always And Forever’ Handicap at York for Grant Tuer and owners York Forty Four Ltd.
Having won impressively Redcar last month on good to firm ground, today’s softer condition and a step up in class provided the stiffest test to date for this improving young horse, but he was more than up to the challenge. He was positioned just behind the leaders through the early stages before being angled out by Sam James with two furlongs to run, and showed a really likeable attitude to get to the front and keep quickening all the way to the line, winning by 1 3/4 lengths. This was a special win for his in form trainer Grant Tuer, as it provided the handlers first win and the North’s flagship venue.
After the race Tuer said ”He is a smart young horse and I don’t think we are close to the bottom of him yet, that was a really nice win and I am delighted for his owners. Hopefully he can come back here for the Ebor Meeting later in the year”.
