Moon King (Sea The Moon) wins for the fourth time in succession, taking the Join Racing TV Now Handicap at Haydock for Ralph Beckett and owners the What Asham Partnership.
Having rattled off three wins in a row already this season, the promising young stayer was sent off a well backed 11/10 favourite for this 1m6f contest. Jockey Harry Bentley sat confidently through the early part of the race before galvanising Moon King with three furlongs to run. The gelding lengthened and dropped in to his stride beautifully before powering to the lead on the rain softened ground to win by an eased down length.
Today’s victory came off a 16lb higher mark than his first win this season and on this evidence there looks to be plenty of improvement left in this highly progressive young horse.
