New Mandate (New Bay) wins impressively at Sandown for Ralph Beckett and owners The Lucra Partnership.
Having run with great promise in two hotly contested maidens at Ascot and Newmarket, finishing 3rd on both occasions, New Mandate was well fancied to break his maiden here and as such was sent off a well supported 15/8F for this 7 furlong contest.
After breaking smartly, Rob Hornby settled New Mandate on the inside just behind the early leader through the early part of the race and remained there until he eventually got some daylight two furlongs out. Once the door opened, he put the race to bed in matter of strides, going away from his rivals on the bridle in the style of a good horse under hands and heels to win by an eased down 2 1/2 lengths.
New Mandate’s victory was the first for ‘The Lucra Partnership’ an exciting new venture that EBS formed in conjunction with trainer Ralph Beckett.
The partnership members enjoy ownership of five two year olds with staying pedigrees which were purchased as yearlings by EBS last year. The aim is ultimately to trade all of the horses before November 1st 2021, either at public auction or via private sale. New Mandate has proved to be an excellent acquisition and with colts by renowned stamina influence Mastercraftsman and exciting freshman sire Vadamos to hit the track in the coming weeks, we are optimistic that more success is on the horizon.
In recent year’s, purchases Mount Moriah, Pleaseletmewin, Skymax, Moon King, Lucander and now New Mandate have all been trained by Ralph to register multiple successes and have exponentially increased their value in the process.
The Lucra Partnership represents a wonderful opportunity to become involved in racehorse ownership, meet new people and hopefully enjoy a return on investment in the process.
The market for middle distance/staying horses has become increasingly strong, thanks to an International thirst for European bloodstock, backed up by a strong domestic National Hunt market. Therefore, with the 2020 yearling sales season about to commence, we have formed a second partnership ‘Lucra II’ which will allow new investors the opportunity to capitalise on the resale potential that this type of horse offers.
