Nothing To Sea (Sea The Moon) wins at Sandown for Ralph Beckett and owners The Lucra Partnership.
Having broken his maiden decisively at Newbury back in May, Nothing To Sea was stepped up to 1m6f here and ran out an authoritative winner under Rob Hornby. He is a young stayer firmly on the upgrade and The Melrose Handicap at York’s Ebor meeting has been mentioned as a likely next step.
After the race trainer Beckett said ”We hadn’t done a whole lot with him as it had taken him a while to get over Newbury so I had to leave him alone for a while. He was a little bit heavy coming into today but I thought with this ground we would go for it. The race worked out beautifully and we were able to slot in just behind Charlie Johnston’s and I thought it was a clever move from Rob to come across to the stands’ rail”.
Nothing To Sea was purchased for €39,000 from the BBAG September Yearling Sale in Baden Baden.
