Ray’s The Money (Dragon Pulse) wins at Newcastle for trainer, Michael Bell and owners The Jenner’s.
Having just his fifth start, Ray’s The Money boasted some solid form going into this valuable maiden, having been placed on all bar one of his previous attempts. One of which saw him finish a close second to the subsequent Group One placed Lockheed (Exceed And Excel).
Sent of a well backed favourite, the Dragon Pulse gelding was settled behind the leader early on, before being asked to quicken by Louis Steward at the furling pole. He stayed on well to run out a comfortable winner, shedding his maiden tag in the process.
The victory provided a further boost for owners as the race was part of the BHA’s Plus 10 bonus scheme, meaning an additional £10,000 was presented to connections.
With this win sure to bolster his confidence Ray’s The Money is certainly one to keep a close eye on for the fast approaching flat season.
